In 1967, a Baltimore man named Howard Donahue began investigating the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Like countless Americans, Donahue was fascinated by the events in Dallas. But what separated him from other amateur sleuths, and even the Warren Commission experts, was a lifetime's experience with guns and ballistics. In Mortal Error, Bonar Menninger chronicles Donahue's twenty-five-year investigation of President Kennedy's death and the stunning revelation it led him to. In crisp, rapid-fire prose, Menninger relates one of the greatest true-life detective stories ever told. More important, he offers solutions to questions that have haunted America for 50 years.

Very interesting read with solid balistic data
By Ritchie Hernandez
This is a great read!
I've studied ballistics casually for 35+ years and the hypothesis presented in this book is very plausible. This book doesn't cover any of the politics involved, but rather focuses on the raw ballistic information that leads to the conclusion that it does. I don't think this generation will ever know the how or what happened that fateful day, but maybe in the next century the information will be made public. Until then, there will be lots of different perspectives in play.

By Catfish
The negative reviews for this book are puzzling. I can understand disagreeing with someone's theory, but the anger and vitriol displayed by the one-star reviews are completely out of proportion to how a normal person would act if he disagreed with the book's thesis. Not only do these reviewers
spray saliva, most, if not all, their complaints are not legitimate. One can disagree without slinging feces.
I have only read one other book on the kennedy assassination. I am not a zealot. i have always looked askance at people who insist that they know a conspiracy was in place on Nov. 22, 1963. I've always casually accepted the Warren Commission's findings.
This book is a well-written account of one man's search for the truth. Using his knowledge of firearms and ballistics, Donahue meticulously traces the path of the bullet, considers the characteristics of the impacts of Oswald's bullet vs. the bullet of an AR-15, examines the available physical evidence (size of entry hole, etc.) and, objectively arrives at a conclusion. He is rebuffed by all officials he approaches to tell his story.
Read the book and draw your own conclusions. It is an interesting read and worth the effort. Ignore the shrill, obscene reviewers who, secure in their parents' basements, spend their lives attacking the legitimate work of sincere people who only want an honest chance to publicize their views.

And the truth will set you free.
By Judy D
WOW! I have waited for a book that gives answers about what happened in Dallas based on forensic evidence. This explains so much about the cover up. Most people know when they are hearing the truth. This book has the ring of truth. The saying, "A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma" describes this book's information. But in the end it appears that the riddle part has been solved. Thank you Mr. Donahue and Mr. Menninger.
